This paper considers a case study on the awareness of dyslexia in a further education college in 2005, through a variety of data collection methods such as questionnaires, interviews and documental analysis. This research has found the level of awareness of adult dyslexia to be less effective than Government initiatives seem to suggest. Expectations of college support systems and delivery of courses to students with dyslexia are high on the Government's agenda but most people have not had the training and awareness to do this. 65% of the staff group in this sample would benefit from enhancement of knowledge in a positive learning climate, but it's unlikely they would take it up unless there is a cultural shift in the organisation. Not all college staff perceive managing students with dyslexia as part of their role. The study offers ways to proceed in designing support networks for learners with dyslexia.
